Lotte's Hiromi Oka outfielder went through contract renewal negotiations at ZOZO on March 27, completing the second year of a three-year contract and signing for a status quo annual salary of 70 million yen (estimated amount) for the current season.
Oka, in his 12th year with the team, was sidelined this season with a left gastrocnemius injury sustained in a game Seibu on July 13. He returned in a game against Softbank on September 11, but only played in 65 games this season, with two Home Run RBI 18 RBIs, a batting average of .274, and an OPS of .726.
Oka said, "The injury is the biggest issue. I've realized that I need to take another look at my body. (Next season) I would like to focus on my OPS as an average. At Bat haven't been many this year, but they were in the 70s, so I would like to get that up to 80s. I want to make an impression with my running, hitting and defense, and all I want to do is produce results on ground and put up numbers."
