On the 24th, Softbank, crowned Japan's first champion in five years, held a victory celebration parade. The parade marched about 2.3 kilometers down Meiji Dori, with 290,000 people lining the streets, 10,000 more than last year. Owner Masayoshi Son, manager Hiroki Kokubo, and infielder Ukyo Shuto rode in the lead car. Manager Kokubo commented, "Last year, we were just one step away from becoming Japan's best, and everyone was saying, 'Next year we'll be number one,' but this year, everyone was saying, 'Congratulations, thank you.' So many fans came together, and there were so many smiles. It really brought home to me how glad I am that we were able to achieve this."
In the second car were team president Sadaharu Oh, CBO Kenji Jojima, pitcher Yuki Matsumoto. Chairman Oh seemed pleased, saying, "It was amazing. It really makes a difference when you become number one in Japan."
