Nippon-Ham infielder Kotaro Kiyomiya was announced on the 24th to assume the role of Players' Association President from next season. He served as Vice Chairman this season. At 27 years old and in his ninth year as a professional, he will be the youngest player to assume the role since the team moved to Hokkaido in 2004. The man who played in the most games this season (138) will become the team's new team leader.
Go Matsumoto, who served as players' union president for three years until this season, explained the circumstances, saying, "I had decided to step down as players' union president this year, regardless of free agency. From my perspective, (Kiyomiya Yuki) is the right person for the job. I had him serve as vice president for the year, and although it wasn't a handover, I communicated his responsibilities to him to a certain extent over the year. I think he has lived with that mindset."
"The Fighters have a lot of young players right now, so I think the team will come together if that generation can lead them, including in terms of their play," said Go Matsumoto, who is looking forward to the leadership of Kiyomiya Yuki, who is one year older than mainstays like Mannami, Nomura, and Tamiya.
Kitayama, who is in the same year as Kiyomiya Yuki, will be appointed vice president, and Nomura will be appointed treasurer.
