On the 20th, Orix kicked off their fall training camp, which had been held since the 6th at INOUE Tobu Sports Park ball park in Kochi. Practice on this day was only in the morning, with light training for both pitcher and fielder. Abe, who serves as pitcher captain and has been working on a new sidearm pitching form since this fall, said in his hand-clapping speech, "The competition will start again in February. Let's prepare with a firm sense of responsibility for the next two months and do our best to win the league championship and become number one in Japan next season."

Coach Kishida Mamoru, who is in his second year in charge and who raised the team from fifth place last year to third place, commented, "I think it was a good time. Everyone put in a fair amount of practice," and expressed his expectations for high-level competition in each position, saying, "It goes without saying that they will arrive in top condition for February 1st. I think everyone understands that they need to improve their level and make the most of these two months."
