On the 13th, Softbank announced that Shinya Kayama has been appointed as the first manager of The Hawks Junior Youth Team.
The junior youth team (registered as the Fukuoka Genkai-nada Boys) is a junior high school hardball baseball team that belongs to the Japan Little League baseball Federation (Boys League), and operates under the following principles: "To nurture future The Hawks players from Fukuoka and Kyushu," "To support children's growth and create a place where they can realize their dreams," and "To embody The Hawks method and work with the local community to connect baseball culture to the future."
Regarding the reason for selecting Kayama as manager, Director and General Manager Mikasa Sugihiko explained, "I thought he was suitable to be the first manager because he has the skills to interact with children as the manager of a junior team for sixth graders, and he understands and works with The Hawks method."
Manager Kayama Shinya expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I am happy to have been entrusted with such an important role. Since this is a new team, I would first like to communicate with the children and create an environment where they can grow. I would also like to support them so that they can grow not only in terms of baseball The Hawks, but also as people. I would like to continue to grow myself and watch over the team with passion so that I can eventually develop players who can perform well for the Hawks."
