It was announced on the 10th that Orix infielder Kotaro Kobayashi (23) will resume throwing on the 11th, the first day of the second training session at the Kochi Camp. Having only played in 116 games this season, he developed right shoulder pain and was removed from the active roster on July 19th. He was re-registered on August 5th, but after the end of the season, he continued training without throwing due to fatigue.
While explaining that the decision was based on the results of an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) test, he said, "If I continue throwing the same way, I'll hurt myself again next year. It's not time to rush, so I'll just do one thing at a time and if it hurts, I'll start again," and has begun working on improving his form. On the 9th, he stayed behind to carefully check his body movements. "I hope I can hit the ball with a high probability like Ryo Ota who hits line drive to right field." In terms of batting, he is taking advice from a senior in the year into consideration and is working hard every day to significantly increase his hits from the nine home runs he has made this season.
"My legs cramped up a lot. I never thought I'd have to do this much..." he said, and the training in Kochi was for his own growth. The starting short stop is spending a fulfilling autumn focusing on mind, technique, and body. (Nambu Shunta)
