Softbank infielder Kenta Imamiya (34) has vowed to make a full recovery with Kokubo-style training. He visited Mizuho PayPay and resumed full-scale training. "This year has been a season full of injuries. I'll be 35 next year, so I want to give it another go," he said, working up a sweat by jogging and other activities.
He has suffered a string of injuries this season, including being sidelined during spring training and in September due to pain in his left calf. Manager Kokubo taught him how to practice at a lower intensity to prevent the calf pain from recurring. "This year was a year in which many players showed their strengths and made their mark, so next year won't be easy. We have no choice but to work hard. In order to do that, we need to build a foundation and be ready to compete," he said, as he works hard to train his body in order to secure his regular position at shortstop.
