Orix Buffaloes secured their second consecutive series win. Starting pitcher Miyagi earned his first win of the season, allowing 6 hit and 3 runs while striking out 8 strike out 6 innings. He became the fastest left-handed pitcher in the team's history to reach 50 career wins.

During spring training, Miyagi was jokingly told by Hiroshi, whose birthday is in March, "I'd like some sunglasses." This prompted Miyagi to decide to give presents to the staff, support staff, and scouts. He arranged for everything, including the frames and lenses, to be customized. The sunglasses were delivered for the opening game on March 27th, strengthening the team's unity.
