Orix Buffaloes Buffaloes pitcher Luis Perdomo (32) joined the team's Miyazaki training camp on the 7th. He joined the team midway through the 2012 season and last season was mainly the "eighth innings man," recording 2 wins and 4 losses in 50 games with ERA of 3.17 and 33 hold, second in the league. "I'm happy to be able to come back to Japan safely," he said with a smile.

While back in his home country of the Dominican Republic, Perdomo reassessed his physical movements. "I'm in great shape. I'm ready to pitch at any time," he declared. Machado, who had 28 saves last season, third in the league, was included on the Venezuelan national team roster for the WBC in March, and manager Kishida expressed his hope for the emergence of a "substitute closer," saying, "Someone has to cover for him." Upon hearing that he was a candidate, Perdomo rolled up his sleeves and said, "I'm very happy. All I have to do is pitch inning that I'm entrusted with."

On this day, he showed off his shaved head, like a Japanese high school baseball player. "I'm changing my mindset for this camp," he said, and we look forward to seeing him in action.
