Nippon-Ham lacked brilliance in both pitching and hitting, suffering consecutive losses to The Giants. The losses put them two games below .500.

It was Arihara's first appearance on the first-team mound since April 26th, but in the first inning he allowed the first run on a timely doble the left field line by Matsumoto, and then gave up consecutive home runs to Cabbage and Kishida in the second inning.
